Happy Memorial Day! Today, we remember the brave heroes who served our country. Their sacrifice reminds us of the importance of building a strong, united community where everyone thrives. At Thrive's Landlord Tenant Program (LTP), we honor this legacy by serving families and children – our future. LTP ensures safe and stable housing for children, one of our most vulnerable populations. Research confirms that stable housing empowers children to avoid many future hardships. To honor our past, we can build a future where every child has the foundation they deserve. We're excited to participate in the 2023 #AvenuesforHope Housing Challenge sponsored by the Home Partnership Foundation. This annual giving campaign runs from December 12th to 31st, and has raised over $12.2M for Idaho nonprofits since 2011. You can support specific causes, organizations, or regions, and have your donation matched by dozens of business and corporate sponsors. Our focus on #Visitability continues this year. Changing the way we design and build single-family residential developments is critical to long-term housing affordability. Whether you, a family member, co-worker or friend currently use a wheelchair or not, it's estimated that 70% of Americans will experience some form of temporary or permanent disability in our lives. And economists cite a 60% probability that each new home built today will house someone with a disability, and a 91% probability that it will host someone with disability during its useful life. Beyond the cost savings and stability created for individuals, Visitability supports inclusive neighborhoods and communities, the ability of all Idahoans to live independently and age in place, and can save millions in Idaho's Medicaid costs every year. We know that Visitability adds value to homes and neighborhoods—without adding costs. We hope you and your business, friends and associates will help us make Visitability more 'visible' in 2024. Homes for America is dedicated to directly addressing the pressing issue of housing shortage. A recent article from The Baltimore Sun highlights the challenges faced by our Baltimore metropolitan community, with fewer homes being built compared to previous years. As a nonprofit affordable housing developer, we understand the urgency of finding innovative solutions to key factors contributing to this housing crisis. We want to ensure that everyone has access to safe and affordable homes. We urge local government officials, community leaders, and residents to come together and support the development of affordable housing. By investing in our communities, we can prevent skyrocketing rents, rising homelessness, and families struggling to find suitable housing. 🤝❤️ Read the full article here: https://bit.ly/3PYFtfN #AffordableHousing #HousingCrisis #CommunityDevelopment #HomesforAmerica #BuildingStrongCommunities

Today marks #NationalHousingDay, a reminder that housing is the bedrock of thriving communities. Housing goes beyond providing shelter; it's about creating spaces where families can flourish. Every home is a step towards stronger communities, benefiting us all. Housing is a basic human right. Every family deserves a safe, affordable place to call home. Your support matters, and there are impactful ways you can make a difference: Advocate: Speak up! Advocate local government representatives for more affordable housing initiatives. Support Local Projects: Voice your support for neighborhood development projects that prioritize community well-being. Give Back: Consider giving the gift of time or money to housing and shelter organizations in our city. Every contribution counts! When you support organizations like Inn from the Cold, you play a crucial role in bringing an end to heartbreak, instability, and helplessness for families in need. Let's continue working together to build a community where everyone has a place to call home. #CommunitySupport #HomeForAll #HousingForHope

Collaboration. That’s Dove House’s theme for 2024. Here’s why: Last quarter alone, Dove House served 79 women between our two locations in Marion County and Dubois County, with 70% of clients successfully discharged. Of those who were discharged, nearly 20% moved on to our Steps to Success Program, where Dove House provides rent assistance for housing while they continue to receive case management and recovery support from our team. Staying connected is so valuable for long-term success—and that’s exactly what our Doves are doing! The results speak for themselves: financial stability, reunification with children, safe and affordable housing, and genuine self-sufficiency. Community support and partnerships are essential to achieving these incredible outcomes. It’s no wonder our CEO lights up when she talks about Dove House. Tune in to today's episode of Wednesdays with Wendy Noe for a look at what to expect throughout the year. #collaboration #WednesdaysWithWendy #CEO #reunification #financialstability #selfsufficiency #housing

What can a tree do for underserved communities? More than you can imagine. From cleaning the air and water, to providing shade and relief, to feeding residents, to helping them connect, learn from each other, and see the value that trees bring. A tree can be a sign that a neighborhood is more than a housing project — it’s a community putting down roots for the long term. It’s an opportunity to empower residents to build equity in their homes. The trees they plant will be there for their children, for their children’s children, for generations. Everyone deserves to live near trees. Everyone. See the effects trees are having on neighborhoods and the good work of local tree-planting organizations at https://lnkd.in/g2pgavYK

Interesting read on Dever Basic Income Pilot as it starts to look at the impact of the program and the perspectives of people participating.
“What strikes me the most about the report’s findings is the sense of hope described by so many program participants,” said Cathy Alderman, chief communications and public policy officer for Colorado Coalition for the Homeless. https://lnkd.in/gDGZspF5
