📣 We are thrilled to announce the list of #7MostEndangered Heritage Sites in Europe 2024, together with our valued partners the EIB Institute & the European Commission: 🇫🇷Working-class Housing in Roubaix-Tourcoing 🇬🇷Cycladic Islands, notably Sifnos, Serifos and Folegandros 🇮🇹Church of San Pietro in Gessate 🇮🇹Synagogue of Siena 🇷🇸Home of Yugoslav People’s Army in Šabac 🇹🇷Greek Orthodox Church of St. Georgios 🇹🇷Iron Gate of Antioch 💬 As highlighted by Shiva Dustdar, Director & Head of the EIB Institute, the selected sites are a symbolic “reflection of the times we live in, with three of the sites heavily damaged by natural disasters”. Yet the listed sites also serve as an example of how heritage can help shape a resilient future. As expressed by Normunds Popens, Deputy Director-General of DG EAC at the European Commission 🇪🇺, “Cultural heritage is a value in itself, but it also brings development, sustainability & innovation. We must work together to ensure this is understood”. 🙏 We wish to thank & congratulate all nominators for their commendable efforts. As stated by our Executive Vice-President, Clausse Guy, “Their voluntary dedication & wealth of knowledge have been instrumental in advancing the cause of cultural heritage preservation throughout Europe, benefiting local communities immeasurably.” The call for nominations for the 7 Most Endangered 2025 is now open! We are proud to be part of the first peer-learning visit of the European Heritage Hub, led by our #HubPartner Eurocities 🏴 Yesterday the Glasgow City Council welcomed us for an introductory session, tour & civic reception at the City Chambers. Our Board Member Graham Bell UK spoke on behalf of the Hub delegation, highlighting the programme's collaborative nature 💬 "To fulfil its role, the Hub must act as an engine fostering connections across Europe. This visit, we encourage you to leave something from your city behind that enhances Glasgow & the people who are making it" Stay tuned for more updates! 👀 #SharingLocalStories
We are thrilled to be in Glasgow for the first peer-learning visit of the European Heritage Hub, with 20 participants from across Europe! 🏴 Glasgow City Council was among the 10 selected submissions from the Hub’s recent open call for local good practices, having presented its Pollok Stables & Sawmill Refurbishment project - a prime example of how #heritage can contribute to the green, digital & social transformation of our society 🌿 The conservation & redevelopment of the Stables & Sawmill complex aims to create a new Living Heritage Centre at the heart of #PollokPark, labelled as a centrepiece of Glasgow City Council’s #NetZero strategy. We also look forward to visiting the Burrell Collection, winner of the Art Fund Museum of the Year 2023 Award for its efforts to create the most accessible, inclusive, & sustainable decorative arts museum, following a five-year renovation project completed in 2022 🖼 Today we enjoyed a fascinating city tour of Glasgow's built heritage & history, followed by an engaging kick-off session, tour & civic reception in the magnificent City Chambers 🏛 Stay tuned for more! #SharingLocalStories

Today we celebrated the fantastic achievement of the team behind MINIARE: The Art & Science of Manuscript Heritage - an outstanding project that won a prestigious #EuropeanHeritageAward in the research category in 2023. In a short presentation Europa Nostra UK Chair Sara Robertson outlined three of the key reasons why the project won the respect of the Europa Nostra awards jury. 🗺 Connections: The medieval manuscripts demonstrate the network of trade connections that spanned Europe and beyond. And we now have evidence of the multicultural nature of artisanal workshops too. 👩🏻⚕️ Collaboration: The success of the project derives from the close collaboration of many skilled professionals working across disciplines - heritage scientists, art historians, curators. 📢 Communication: The team are talented storytellers and continue to generously share their learning with a wide range of audiences in a highly engaging way. With thanks to Graham Bell UK and Joanna Karmowska for the photos. L-R: Luke Syson, Sara Robertson, Denis Severis

🗞 We're proud to allocate grants to 14 heritage civil society-led projects in EU neighbouring countries under the framework of the European Heritage Hub and thanks to the vital initial funding from the EU & our partner ALIPH - International alliance for the protection of heritage in conflict areas 🙏 With 600 submissions, the Scheme underscores the relevance of such funding, but also highlights the lack of sufficient support for heritage civil society organisations dedicated to the protection and promotion of Europe’s shared heritage, both tangible & intangible, in EU neighbouring countries 🏛️ 🌿 Much more can and should be done. We hope this marks just the beginning! Find out more about the Scheme and the selected projects: https://lnkd.in/d2wTDYW2
