As we continue with #FarmSafetyWeek, we want to highlight the importance of maintaining farm machinery and equipment. All farms need to manage the risks of injury that come with using agricultural plant and machinery. By thinking about what you do on a daily basis and what equipment you use, you will better manage the risks which are part of your everyday farming activities. Before use 👉 make sure a pre-start check is performed After use 👉 make sure the plant is tagged, locked out, isolated and the stored energy is released. Want to know more? Residents, workers and travellers in northern regions of Western Australia are being warned to protect against mosquito bites in a recent health alert issued by WA Health. There is an elevated mosquito-borne disease risk across a wide area of northern Western Australia, particularly in the Pilbara, Kimberley, Gascoyne and Midwest regions. This alert follows the rise in Murray Valley Encephalitis (MVE), a virus which can be transferred to humans by mosquitoes. ⚠️ Mine operators in affected areas are reminded to ensure their health management plans cover mosquito-borne diseases and mosquito control programs on site are effective. Protect yourself by: • wearing long loose-fitting clothing • applying mosquito repellent • keeping vegetation around living areas short to discourage mosquitoes. The Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety's strategic plan - Towards 2029 - builds on our vision of a safe, fair and prosperous future for Western Australia. The intricate artwork designed by Aboriginal artist Melissa Spillman (Woods) represents a 'Cleaner, Greener Future', our responsibility to protect the Boodja (land/country) and its waterways. Read the full strategic plan below.

We recently launched our Strategic Plan Towards 2029. Our new plan supports a safe, fair and prosperous future for Western Australia. We have directed our priorities towards sustaining responsible industries, protecting the community, and driving the energy transition. We had the privilege of working with Aboriginal artist Melissa Spillman (Woods) of Maarakool Art to develop an original artwork for Towards 2029. Representing DEMIRS’ commitment to a “Cleaner, Greener Future”, Mel has woven variations of blue, brown, and green to represent our responsibility to protect the Boodja (land/country) and its waterways. NAIDOC Week has begun ☀️ This is a week of celebrations dedicated to recognising and learning about the culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. DEMIRS was proud to attend a joint agency event which brought together several WA government agencies to honour the occasion. The event included keynote speakers and a beautiful performance from the Noongar dance group Midn Marr Dreaming. #NAIDOCWeek
