The Foundation team and our Board of Trustees were delighted to host our first Partner Learning Day of 2024 in June, focusing on two of our improving livelihoods projects. It was inspiring and thought-provoking to hear from the Chief Executives of Dig Deep (Africa), Ben Skelton, and Cleft Lip and Palate Association (CLAPA), Claire Cunniffe, who spoke about how their work is impacting underserved communities, the challenges they continue to face and their organisations’ ambitions.   There were many takeaways from the day, including learning that to date our grants have: •Provided clean water to 1,500 students and 2,000 community members in Bomet County, Kenya 💧 •Enabled the distribution of 518 Welcome Packs to parents of babies with clefts and provided support to 1,554 families 👪 We would like to thank Ben and Claire for their time and their dedication to sustainably improving lives 👏. #CrodaFoundation #ImprovingLives #ImprovingLivelihoods

We're delighted to have contributed £60,000 to support Kaleka’s Mosaik Initiative. Our grant will enable farmers in these districts to become Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) certified, allowing them to get a price premium for sustainably producing commodities, which is critical to improving their product value and ultimately their livelihoods. 🌴

Today, we're reflecting on two years since the Action for Sustainable Derivatives (ASD) Impact Fund kick started its support for the Kaleka Mosaik Initiative. It's a project designed to drive regional economic development and sustainably restore landscapes in two of the largest palm-producing districts in Central Kalimantan, Indonesia. A big thank you to our supporting ASD members – Avon, Clariant through its Foundation, Groupe Clarins, The Clorox Company, Croda, Croda Foundation, The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. through its Charitable Foundation, GATTEFOSSÉ, Haleon, SEPPIC, Stéarinerie Dubois and Zschimmer & Schwarz. Today we celebrate Croda Foundation's longest-serving secondee, Jenny Berriman.🎉 Jenny joined us on 1 September 2021 as part of our Changemakers Programme, which utilises the skills and expertise of Croda’s employees in pursuit of our charitable goals. In her role as Finance Manager, Jenny’s main roles include budgeting and forecasts and producing the monthly and annual accounts. 📈 Jenny said: “I’d never worked in the charity sector before, so the opportunity was exciting for me. “I think the best thing about the Foundation is the team I get to work with, and getting to see the impact our charity partners are having on underserved communities. Seeing what they’ve achieved in such a short space of time is amazing!” #CrodaFoundation #Improvinglives

Today, we join the United Nations in marking, and celebrating, International Day for Biological Diversity 💚.   At Croda Foundation, we recognise the importance of putting biodiversity on a path to recovery, which is why we choose to partner with organisations, such as Instituto Amazonas.   Through a grant of £92,000, we supported an initiative focusing on enriching and rescuing traditional agricultural practices of the indigenous peoples of the Amazon.   We are delighted to say, the two-year project resulted in the preservation of 3,300 hectares of forest! 🌳   We look forward to continuing our efforts in this area to reverse loss and restore biodiversity. #CrodaFoundation #Improvinglives #BiodiversityDay

We are thrilled to announce our new partnership with Standing Voice – an international non-governmental organisation defending the rights of people with albinism in Africa. 🌍    Without the protective pigment melanin, people with albinism are highly vulnerable to skin cancer – one estimate suggests fewer than 10% of people with this genetic condition in Tanzania survive skin cancer to reach the age of 30. This makes having access to dermatology services vital, which is why we are delighted to be supporting Standing Voice’s skin cancer prevention programme with a grant of £398,187.    Over the course of three years, this funding will enable the organisation to deliver 978 dermatology clinics in Tanzania, giving 9,100 people with albinism direct access to much-needed services.   We are proud to be helping to reduce mortality from skin cancer among people with albinism through this established programme, which has become a blueprint for the future!   #CrodaFoundation #Improvinglives #Albinism #Skincancerprevention     Photo credit: Harry Freeland / Standing Voice

Croda Foundation is delighted to be supporting Cleft Lip and Palate Awareness Week in conjunction with our project partners Cleft Lip and Palate Association (CLAPA).    One in 700 babies is born with a cleft around the world; it can happen in any pregnancy, even with no family history, and can affect a baby’s hearing and ability to speak. Clefts can also impact feeding, which is why Croda Foundation is proud to support CLAPA by funding specialist bottles and teats to families in need all around the UK. 🍼   These special bottles offer relief, hope and a practical solution for parents struggling to feed their babies. Without special bottles like these, parents often have to resort to time-consuming methods like spoon or syringe-feeding or even invasive methods like feeding tubes. With these special bottles and teats, they can quickly establish a feeding routine and leave the hospital to enjoy those precious early weeks of bonding at home. 👶   Learn more about cleft lip and palate and how to support someone coming to terms with a new diagnosis at CLAPA.com/CleftAware.    #CleftAware #crodafoundation #improvinglives
