Interviewing engineers and engineer engagement is the first step in our Leaders Award Competition which asks UK pupils aged 3-19 'If you were an engineer, what would you do?'. On Tuesday 11th March 2025 we will be hosting a live engineer interview with Joseph, an engineering apprentice at Thales as together we dive deep into the world of submarines. Thales UK are a longstanding National Partner on our Leaders Award Competition. From September - March every year we host interviews with engineers, they share how they use creative problem-solving in their work and inspire the pupils to find their own engineering idea plus pupils get to ask the questions that matter to them. Pupil designer Adela, a pupil in Year 7, will see her engineering idea the Medicine Calendar turned into a reality by Canterbury Christ Church University! Inspired by her own experience and sometimes forgetfulness when taking medication, her idea would help a variety of people when it’s medication organiser and alarm feature. It also makes taking medication more fun with music availability. University of Birmingham Centre for Railway Research and Education (BCRRE) and UK Rail Research and Innovation Network (UKRRIN) were delighted to welcome Primary Engineer back to Birmingham today. A large group of teachers of primary age children were shown how to build two railway engineering related projects. They will be helping the children at their schools to build their own versions of these in the next few weeks. We are very much looking forward to seeing the children's projects at the celebration event later in the year.
