The Sony RX100 M3 is a Triumph... And The Best Compact Camera You'll Ever Buy to Shoot Fantastic Pictures at Disney Parks !

All Disney fans share something in common: we all love to take pictures at the parks! Mobile phones can do good pictures but they still have some limits, so today i want to introduce to you the new Sony RX100 M3, released three months ago by Sony, a camera with which you will shoot your best pictures ever in the parks - as well as HD videos - and definitely the best compact camera of all time.

But first, please note that for the first time in Disney and more history there is two different versions of the same article! In this one you'll see samples pictures all shot at Disneyland Paris. But in the other version posted on my Innoventions blog HERE the sample pictures are different and will be precious to have additional samples of what this amazing RX 100 M3 is able to do. In both cases, always click on each pictures to see them in big size as i have uploaded the files almost in real size.

The first version of the RX100 released by Sony two years ago was a huge hit from day one and acclaimed by almost everyone who owns it and tech blogs, including by the one of David Pogue who, in the New York Times, did a long review explaining why he thought the RX100 was simply "the best compact camera ever made". And, boy, did i agreed with him! Like everyone who had the good idea to buy the first version i was stunned by the quality of the pictures, due to the amazing Sony 20M pixel sensor, the quality of the lens giving amazing sharpness of each image, etc... all this in a such small camera.

And recently, after Sony released last year the Mark 2 version of the RX100, they've released the third version, the RX100 M3 and this latest one beats them all and will please both enthusiasts amateurs and professional photographers... If just like me you're looking for a camera which is at the same time small, light, and can shoot pictures of an amazing quality - almost like a DSLR - then the Sony RX100 M3 is for you, as it's case - all in magnesium - is as small as a pack of cigarettes, it weights only 290G - battery include - and yes, it's a real "pocket camera"!

Not only its design is pure and beautiful but the new RX100 M3 has all the numerous great options, settings, manual controls and capabilities which existed in the M1 and M2 but it comes with much more as you will see. First, the Zeiss lens is now a 24 -70 mm ( instead than 28 - 100 on the M1 and M2 ) and although some might regret that it don't goes up to 100mm the fact that it starts at 24mm instead than 28mm is invaluable. And by the way, you can always get closer to the subject you're shooting... or use the digital zoom which is amazingly good for a digital zoom. Have a look at the picture below shot in wide angle. By the way, please click on each picture of this article to see them in big size as they've been uploaded in almost real size for each file.

As always the quality of the "pixel" is stunning, thanks to the new EXMOR R CMOS sensor so if you need to zoom in post production in the image without losing quality you'll be able to do it easily. The contrast is always perfect, and colors are vibrant without being over saturated.

Among all the numerous options / functions available on the RX100 you can of course choose to do everything manually but the "Auto" or even better the "Intelligent Auto" mode is doing a great work, really. And, in the SCN ( scenes ) options there is my favorite which is the "Hand Held Twilight" mode. This one is here normally to shoot great pics at twilight without a stand but i use it too when it's full night, or when i am inside a place where there is not too much light and the result is stunning. Basically, the camera shoot 10 pics in one second and make the best out of them. The result is almost 100% of the time a picture incredibly sharp with great colors and all this hand held without a stand. Have a look at some examples below, all shot inside the caves of Adventure Isle in which the lighting is incredibly dark! Also note that the ISO sensitivity can go up to 25600 ISO.

There is of course also several options to shoot in black and white, and the rich tone B&W or high contrast mode will give you great results with always amazing sharpness.

Also new on this Mark 3 version, the new codec video as not only the RX100 M3 shoot great pictures but it also film HD 1080p video and the new XAVC-S codec mean less compression than with the previous AVCHD and so better quality. Just remember that you can record in XAVC-S only on a SDXC card, not on a SDHC, which is no big problem as you can find SDXC memory cards easily.

But what tops it all what is new in the RX100 M3 is the amazing viewfinder that Sony engineers succeeded to include in a such tiny camera. And an electronic viewfinder with a gorgeous definition which will be very helpful if you can't see well in the 3" display screen because there is too much sun or it's too dark. The viewfinder pop-up when you need it and when you don't you just put it down so it couldn't be more simple. Because of that the flash is now in the center with the viewfinder on the left, and it's even better to have the flash in the center.

Talking about the 3" screen this one too have something new as it can move and be adjust up to 180} which will be perfect for those who're looking to shoot some selfies.

The battery last 3 hours, even if you shoot a lot, but as always it's always better to have one more battery with you, just in case. Now, you can charge the battery directly inside the camera but if you prefer - like i do - to charge it on an external charger, Sony is doing one that you can buy.

The camera do have WIFI so you can easily download the pics on your phone or iPad to see how they look on a bigger screen while you are in vacation. And if you have a HDTV with a usb connection you can connect the RX100 directly to the TV and watch pics and movies instantly, very easily.

I'd like to find something going wrong on this camera but, honestly, each version has been from the start a delight to use with such satisfactory results that i can hardly find one. Okay, here is one: if you buy this RX100 M3, think to buy too the leather case that Sony is doing. Why? Because although the camera is remarkably small it's almost a little bit too small, and the case will add 6mm more in large and give you a better grip on the camera, and of course a perfect protection.

The Sony RX100 M3 official price is $799 which might look to you a bit high, but believe me, it's the best pocket camera money can buy and you'll love it instantly, and won't regret one cent! Have  a look below at a series of pictures shot at Disneyland Paris recently! And for a complete list of its specification jump HERE to the Sony website.

As i told you at the start, i've posted on my Innoventions website HERE another version of this article, with different samples pictures not from Disneyland, but mostly shot in Paris and in Asia. These others pictures are pretty good too to judge the quality of the camera so check it out!

In conclusion, and knowing that Christmas is coming soon, this Sony RX100 M3 would be a perfect gift for the one you love or, more simply, yourself! You won't be disappointed by this amazing and powerful 20M pixels camera!

Lucasfilm Officially Announces “Strange Magic” , an Animated Film With a Story Written by George Lucas Himself and to be Released Next January 2015 !

This is the "surprise news" of the year and no one see it coming: Lucasfilm officially announced...guess what?... an animated film named “Strange Magic” with a story written by George Lucas himself! And it won't be released in a year or two but in two months from now as this new animated film will be released by Touchstone Pictures on January 23, 2015!

Here is the synopsis of this mysterious movie: “Strange Magic” is a madcap fairy tale musical inspired by “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” Popular songs from the past six decades help tell the tale of a colorful cast of goblins, elves, fairies and imps, and their hilarious misadventures sparked by the battle over a powerful potion. Lucasfilm Animation Singapore and Industrial Light & Magic, which created the CGI animation for 2011’s Academy Award®-winning film “Rango,” bring to life the fanciful forest turned upside down with world-class animation and visual effects.

The story is written by “Star Wars” creator George Lucas, directed by Gary Rydstrom (“Toy Story Toons: Hawaiian Vacation,” “Lifted”), produced by Mark S. Miller (associate producer “Mars Attacks!”) and executive produced by George Lucas, with a screenplay by David Berenbaum (“Elf”), Irene Mecchi (“Brave,” “The Lion King”) and Rydstrom.

Broadway stars lend their voices to “Strange Magic,” including Alan Cumming (CBS’ “The Good Wife,” Broadway’s “Cabaret”), Evan Rachel Wood (“The Ides of March”), Kristin Chenoweth (Broadway’s “Wicked”), Maya Rudolph (“Big Hero 6,” “Bridesmaids”), Sam Palladio (ABC’s “Nashville”), newcomer Meredith Anne Bull, Alfred Molina (“Chocolat”), Elijah Kelley (“Hairspray,” “The Butler”), Bob Einstein (HBO’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm”) and Peter Stormare (“Fargo”). Music producer Marius de Vries (“Moulin Rouge”) is both the musical director and composer.

Georges Lucas Museum of Narrative Art Stunning Design

Today's article is on my Innoventions Blog and is about Georges Lucas and his big, big project called The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art. Located at Chicago, it will be a gathering place to experience narrative art and the evolution of moving images – from illustration to cinema to the digital mediums of the future! With its architecture looking like a Space Mountain over which would float an alien mother spaceship, i instantly loved it! And probably so you will, so jump to the full article on my Innoventions website HERE.

About last week rumor saying Disney is buying land to build a theme park on India East coast

About last week rumor saying Disney is buying land to build a theme park on India East coast: following the articles in the Indian press Disney released this statement:

"“Disney has no immediate plans to open a theme park in India. We continually look for opportunities to grow our business and while India is an attractive market, we currently have no plans for a theme park here. Disney India continues to build its brands through four core businesses, namely Media Networks (one of the largest TV networks with eight popular channels targeting kids, youth and families), Interactive (one of the leading players in the digital and games segment), Studios (one of the leading film producers and distributors in the country) and Consumer Products (one of the most prominent players in the Merchandising and Licensing industry). Our businesses are dedicated to creatively developing, marketing and distributing the best branded entertainment for Indian consumers across ages”, said a statement from the company."

So, what you've read from the Indian press in my article was probably either wishful thinking from Andhra Pradesh state or someone trying to inflate land values by saying a big investor (Disney) is coming to town. So far we can consider that Disney has no theme park plans for India... for now.

Official : Star Tours 2 : The Adventure Continues Will Debut At Disneyland Paris for DLP 25th Anniversary !

A great news to start the week as it's official, Star Tours 2 3D : The Adventure Continues, is coming to Disneyland Paris for DLP 25th Anniversary! In an interview to France Info radio Mark Stead, DLP Chief Financial Officer said explicitly that DLP Star Tours will have an upgrade for the 25th Anniversary and we all know what it means. You've read about this three weeks ago on Disney and more in the article about DLP future - translation of ED92 post - and ED92 was right.

Now, as we know Star Tours 2 has multiple movies which are played randomly in the simulator shuttle but so far they're all referring to the first Star Wars trilogy. As DLP 25th Anniversary will be in 2017, i.e two years after the release in theaters of Star Wars Episode 7, it'll be interesting to see if the 3D movies that guests will enjoy at DLP in the Starspeeders will be new ones based on the new trilogy or the ones which currently exist in the U.S version of the ride. I remind you that a strong rumor keep saying that WDI might introduce new movies when the first episode of the new trilogy will be released, which will make sense at least on a synergy point of view. So, we'll see which one we will have in DLP Star Tours 2.

Also note that Mark Stead didn't talked about a Star Wars land which, according to ED92, will come later. You have below the video of Mark Stead interview on France Info, where he was invited to explain the bad DLP financial results announced this week. But of course he speaks in french so if you don't understand french i suppose that you'll have to trust me about what he says. Anyway, in the video the part about Star Tours is at 3'54".

Mark Stead (Euro Disney) : "Nous allons rénover... par FranceInfo

Talking about ED92 and DLP 25th Ann, ED92 did a short post this week-end on the ED92 Facebook page saying that, although not yet official, Toy Story Mania will be also part of the package of new attractions for DLP 25th in 2017 and will open at the Walt Disney Studios, but not before December 2017. Let's hope they will be as right with this one as they were with Star Tours 2!

Disneyland Paris Update : Christmas Season Begins at DLP ! Now Edited With HD Videos !

Earlier this week Disneyland Paris did a presentation of the Christmas season which will run from  Nov 9 to Wednesday, January 7, 2015. It took place at noon at the Team Disney Building Val d'Europe, the former building of The Walt Disney Company France and the presentation was in the projection room "Steamboat Willie". Our host was Regis Alart, former Ambassador of Disneyland Paris, now in charge of the communication for the Entertainment Department and Max Fan, D&M contributor and DLPWelcome webmaster was there to attend the presentation.

DLP Christmas season begins today Sunday, November 9 and will end Wednesday, January 7, 2015. However exceptions are noted, and Christmas decorations as well as the Disney Dreams of Christmas show will be played until Sunday, January 11, 2015 for tourists coming from others European countries, because of the vacation dates.

Note: If you read this article on Sunday Nov 9 don't miss the LIVE Blog organized by ED92 from the park this Sunday at 5pm for the launch of the Christmas season!

Let's start about Christmas decorations in the park: Main Street Station is unchanged, as well as the Christmas tree always 24 meters high, with its 24 tons and 850 accessories on Town Square.

The Magical Christmas Greeting is different from last year as Kathy Harris (KH) and Vasile Şirli (VS) have explained to us in a video.

KH: For "Magical Christmas Wishes" the choice is to don't have Mickey and Minnie as the Christmas Tree is the star. Thus we can see its illumination  at 360 ° on Town Square.
VS: It is the best way to make Christmas accessible to all, because we all have our own vision of Christmas from our own history. This illumination allows you to stay in the traditional, where everyone meet.
The phase of harmonization raises many options and challenges. We must define first the time of the event not to be neither too short nor too long, then you have to have a guideline, otherwise the ceremony created will be found to be a mixture of nameless genres and consistency.

The Christmas Tree Lighting will take place this year without Pinocchio and Jiminy Cricket, and there should not be any voice from another character. New this year, the snow will be present also on Town Square in addition to Main Street. Nearly 8200 liters of soap will be used for the snow.
Not surprisingly, the Christmas garlands on Main Street are back as well as garlands on vehicles.

D&M has the video for you of this year Christmas Tree Celebration filmed yesterday Saturday evening by Max!

On Central Plaza snow statues of Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Donald will be added to the already present snowmen of other years.

Meet and greet:

Minnie and friends will be present at the entrance of Liberty Arcade. And new for this year, Merida will meet her fans near Casey's Corner.

At the Castle the "Disney Princesses Promenade" will take place every morning during fifteen minutes. From the front door of the Castle, Aurora, Snow White, Cinderella, Belle, Tiana, Rapunzel, Merida and 6 and 6 Ladys and Lords will go to the castle theater after a quick pass on Central Plaza. After a short dance will sound the trumpets of the Royal Kingdom of Arendelle and Anna and Elsa will arrive to greet the visitors. (note that Anna and Elsa, are not yet officially considered Disney princesses, so they are not included in the dancing princesses).

The single daily performance remains to be confirmed according to the opening hours of the park, but the premiere will be on November 14 ( in soft opening Nov. 13)

At the Princesses Pavilion, visitors will have the opportunity to meet only Anna and Elsa, the two sisters will be throughout the winter season the masters of the pavilion. No new special theming for the interior decoration.

To compensate for the loss of princesses, guests will find - during the afternoon only - Rapunzel beside the Enchanted Tree, Cinderella at the inn (just like the rest of the year), Snow White at the enchanted well (between the castle theater and the castle itself) and also Aurora near Excalibur.
Minnie will be in free Set (surprise meeting) at Cottonwood Creek Ranch where Santa Claus will be, too. And of course, Jack Skellington in christmas costume will also be in Frontierland.

Disney's Christmas Parade

It is with joy that DLP guests will find this year a Christmas parade which will play three times a day and replace the Disney Magic on Parade.
It's a cavalcade becoming parade for several reasons. First, it is enriched with a new float "Sugar and Spice" (Sugar and Spice) with Clarisse and Daisy on the float and Chip and Dale walking nearby. In addition, there will be new costumes with red and white and green colors, coordinated with the Christmas products on sale in the park.

New costumes also in other units, either in the form of toy trains and boats for theToy Story unit. New accessories too for Winnie and Tigger with a fully Christmas-ized float!

That said, this year, characters still have no voice on the parade floats (fingers crossed for 2015), and no presence of the Indestructibles.

There is nearly 90 performers who  parade 3 times per day. It is therefore a better product which brings the usual cavalcade up to the next step by becoming a Parade.

D&M has the video of this new Christmas parade for you, thanks to Max who filmed it yesterday Nov 8 at the opening of the season, and it looks great to me!

"Christmas Moments" is happening in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle, and it's a short fountain show with Christmas songs. Max is back with the video too filmed last night!

Disney Dreams! of Christmas

Kathy Harris, Vasile Şirli and Steve Davison explain that this year we will be entitled to see even more  frozen "Snow Queen". Of course Olaf and Anna who will always be our guides for this adventure. Kathy also told us that his favorite part is "Silent Night" because it is a time of peace, silence and warmth.

The Disney Dreams! of Christmas opening scene will be updated and next will be the scene on ice, not Frozen like last year, but Toy Story. This scene will be short. Result, after an opening with all the toys we will have a rebuilt and shortened version of Woody and Jessie and the last part kept fully with Buzz Lightyear and Jessie. These parts were selected because of the presence of the majority of the characters. After the Toy Story sequence, we will find the transition to "it's a small world", followed by a new version of the Frozen sequence, "Frozen Celebration! ".

This part is the true backbone of the program this year. So you will have in order, Olaf singing "In Summer", Anna and Hans for "Love is an open door" and at the very end, Elsa singing "Let it go".

During "Frozen celebration" it is not impossible that the ice castle of the Snow Queen will be part of the projections (to be confirmed).

A surprise sequence will come next with many new characters  (Worlds of Ralph, Big Hero 6 ... etc).
And finally, the final will be even more dynamic with in particularly the toy soldiers that can be seen in World of Color.

Editing: That's it, Disney Dreams of Christmas! had its premiere at Disneyland Paris and D&M, thanks to Max from DLPWelcome and D&M contributor has a fantastic HD video of this full new projection show on Sleeping Beauty castle.

One more thing : at the The Walt Disney Studios, Mickey and Minnie will be on Front Lot and will have new costumes. And from 9 November to January 7, the Christmas village is back at Disney Village. Note that it will not be possible to meet Santa Claus in the Christmas village.
