Disneyland Paris Adventure Isle Reopens After 8 Months of Renovation!

At Disneyland Paris, Adventure Isle reopened after 8 Months of intensive renovation and Disneyland Paris News released more official details about it.

Daniel Delcourt, Chief Operating Officer at Disneyland Paris, celebrated on 9 September the reopening of Adventure Isle, after 8 months of major refurbishment. We took the opportunity to discover a rehabilitated area and the work achieved by a number of teams who joined forces to amaze our guests.
“These last two weeks have been quite busy, to say the least, as the teams worked 7/24 to comply with the deadline for the reopening”, Frédéric Clain, Project Coordinator in the Parks Operations Product Integration team, confided. While checking the island 48h before H-hour, reviewing each detail and taking notes, he gave us a tour of the facilities. Whether it was a new coat of paint, a renovation or a total replacement, the scope of the works is impressive.

La Cabane des Robinson

La Cabane des Robinson, the focal point of this refurbishing operation, required the most work. But the result is worth it. The entrance to the treehouse, the staircases, the fishing nets and the lighting all look brand new. The Cast Members have a new reception post with an ergonomic desk that offers more comfort. Each tree scene is dazzling as every accessory has been repainted, repaired or replaced by the teams from Central Shops and Euro Disneyland Imagineering. “Our biggest fans will even notice little differences!” Frédéric comments. Guests will not miss the central element of the Cabane, the large water wheel– back to its original splendor – that will help the water flow once testing is 100% complete within two weeks of opening. Disneyland Paris landscape artists completed a remarkable horticulture task, redesigning the perspectives, and putting trees and bushes on a more realistic scale.

The northern part of the island This area is another large works area on Adventure Isle, and hosts secret hiding places and coves where pirates from all over the world come to hide their treasures. Considerable work was carried out on the rocks themselves, as specialised companies filled gaps and repainted and sculpted the indoor and outdoor artificial rocks of this real labyrinth. Waterfalls throughout the island were brought back into service, some of which had not worked since shortly after park opening. The themed lighting was replaced to improve both the visibility and the atmosphere. The light effects in Ben Gunn’s Cave were renewed and those of the water falls were refurbished as lighting throughout the island modified to LED. Most of the twelve walkways connecting the alleyways were treated with anti-slip products.

The Galion des Pirates, at the foot of Skull Rock, the huge rock in the shape of a 12 m tall skull, was repainted by the Central Shops team and its sails are spic n’ span. The Central Shops team also renovated Plage des Pirates, nearby, with a major cleaning and paint job.

“It is not only for the show that we did all of this. It also allowed us to reinforce accessibility where possible, and reduced safety issues”, Frédéric explained to us. “For example, we modified the ramp to La Plage des Pirates and made it accessible. There are also many small details, such as additional emergency and evacuation lights, reinforced lighting, anti slip surfaces, and a greater number of themed nets.” All these items help to insure the safety of our guest and Cast Members.

“As of now this work environment belongs to the Cast Members. They will make the venue’s history come to life”, Frédéric states. “All those who worked hand in hand to see this project through, from Euro Disneyland Imagineering to the maintenance teams, including those from Horticulture, Safety, HST, Custodial and Park Operations are proud of the result. This project is a perfect testimony of the quality of the experience we wish to offer our guests.”

D&M will be back on this reopening with an exclusive photo report but in the meantime don't miss this video from Max showing Adventure Isle at its reopening. Watch how all waterfalls of Adventure Isle are now working, the new lighting in the caves, and more!

Shanghaî Disneyland Adventure Isle Roaring Rapids Full Ride HD Video !

At last Adventure Isle Roaring Rapids is open and we have a first video filmed by Youkuber M_Patros of the full ride which include two falls and more surprises with of course the AA Q'araq creature which seems to don't be at 100% of its capacities. The ride is always in test mode and the AA creature is not working yet as you willl see. It seems that the skin of its right front leg don't cover the metallic structure so there is may be the issue they try to resolve. All the rest of the show seems to work properly but, yes, the video shows a ride not fully operational and please keep this in mind when you watch it.

Shanghaî Disneyland Roaring Rapids Construction Update !

We'll start the week with a Shanghaî Disneyland Adventure Isle "making-of update, and the pictures below are related specially to Roaring Rapids, the big E-Ticket ride of the land.

As you can see on the artwork below, the Roaring Rapids raft ride will not only have a drop but also will go inside the mountain - to meet the creature - and include too geyser and fire effects. The loading area is in the round building in the center with the queue going on first in the open air building below, on the bottom. Then the rafts will go down before turning left and go up to the mountain. When they'll come down before the arrival there will be some fire effect, then the drop, and a geyser sequence just before the unload.

Now, we've seen previously plenty of pictures of the construction of Roaring Rapids mountain but the pictures below posted on a Chinese website are showing SDL workers working on the geysers section, the one you can see on the artwork above on the bottom left. You'll see also in the background on the pictures, on the right, the shape of the round load building.

The next picture may not be related to the geysers scene itself, but surely to the decor nearby.

As for the mountain itself for those who have missed it i repost this pictures below, the latest we've got so far.

See you soon for a new Shanghaî Disneyland update!

Shanghaî Disneyland Adventure Isle and Roaring Rapids Storyline !

After yesterday's article about SDL Pirates of Caribbean ride, the series of article bringing more details about Shanghaî Disneyland attractions continues, and today we'll have a closer look at Adventure Isle!

Let's start with the Roaring Rapids raft ride:

Plunge through dark chasms, outrace a ferocious beast and churn through raging, roiling currents on a thrilling raft adventure!

Confront the Mountain’s Terrifying Secret

Join a rafting expedition to explore an ancient legend… but beware the dangers that lie ahead.

You’re invited to join the League of Adventurers as they unravel the mystery of Adventure Isle’s highest peak, known as “Roaring Mountain” for the forbidding sounds it emits.
Arbori natives believe that Q’aráq—a crocodile-like beast—dwells within. But could this incredible tale be true? League scientists have already unearthed fascinating relics and a hidden pathway.
Finding more clues will require a perilous river journey through uncharted waters. Brave volunteers are needed. If you have a thirst for adventure and a yearning for excitement, climb aboard and set off into the unknown.

Feel the Rush!
A journey to explore becomes an adrenaline-charged race to survive.
You’ll board your raft and set off upriver to Field Camp Beta. But look out! A fallen tree blocks your way and diverts the current in a new direction—right inside the mountain!
Within the cavern, the roar turns deafening as the rapids propel you toward the enraged monster itself. Speeding through the darkness, you’ll see the bulging-eyed beast ahead, feel its steamy breath and duck as it snaps its giant razor-sharp teeth.

If your raft escapes the fearsome jaws of Q’aráq, you’ll plunge through a lava tube and into a churning whirlpool, then past erupting volcanic vents and steaming geysers as the whitewater rapids sweep you back to basecamp.
Breathlessly returning, you’ll be hailed by your fellow League of Adventurers members. Your mission has boldly embraced their intrepid spirit: seeking the unknown and discovering the unbelievable—no matter the peril!

And now, more details about Camp Discovery!
Traverse challenging rope courses, hike scenic trails and dig for ancient relics as you explore Adventure Isle.

Join the League of Adventurers
Discover an astonishing world of mystery, natural beauty and archeological wonders.

For millennia, the Arbori people have called this lush and beautiful island their home—living in harmony with their natural world. When, in 1935, an expedition of the League of Adventurers was blown off course and discovered Adventure Isle, the peaceful Arbori welcomed them. It turns out the tribe was just as curious about this intrepid band of scientists as the explorers were about the Arboris’ customs, artifacts and natural surroundings.

With so many natural and man-made marvels to be found on this remote tropical island, the League welcomes inquisitive explorers like you to help them with their ongoing investigations.

At Camp Discovery, you can choose from a variety of expeditions to help unravel the island’s mysteries and uncover its wonders. You can climb on elevated rope courses to survey the stunning terrain of Roaring Mountain, hike through the breathtaking scenery or work inside a dig zone to unearth ancient artifacts.

Are you ready? Onward, Adventurers!

Excitement for Explorers of All Ages
Choose your course, set out for adventure and prepare for the incredible!

For everyone, from the most fearless trailblazer to the youngest League of Adventurers recruit, Camp Discovery offers rare experiences and remarkable sights few have ever encountered.

Challenge Trails at Camp Discovery
These 3 uniquely thrilling elevated rope courses traverse the terrain of Roaring Mountain—taking adventurers over river gorges, waterfalls and sheer cliffs, through stunning terrain and into spectacular caverns.

Hidden Falls Chamber – Journey behind a waterfall and deep into the jungle to a mystical cavern, home to the glittering gem-encrusted Temple of the Milky Way.
Echo Cavern – Wind along a perilous river gorge, discover magnificent rock carvings and cave paintings, and hear for yourself how Echo Canyon got its name.
House of the Ancients – Trek to the site of an in-progress excavation, where League of Adventurers archeologists are unearthing an ancient Arbori trading center.
Please note: Guests must be at least 106 centimeters (41.5 inches) or taller to experience the 3 rope courses of the Challenge Trails at Camp Discovery.

Vista Trail
This gentle and lushly landscaped trail lets adventurers of all ages and abilities experience the wonders of the rope courses from ground level—with photo opportunities around every bend. Stop to marvel at the trio of large “humming stones” which emit a mysterious hum heard only by the most nature-attuned individuals.

Excavation Site
At this hands-on dig zone, young archeologists can discover fascinating relics embedded in rock and buried in sand. Slides and other engaging activities among the ruins make exploring this area extra fun.

No matter how you choose to explore, mysteries, wonders and new adventures unfold all around you when you make the trek to Camp Discovery

The main restaurant of adventure Isle will be Tribal Table: "Set out for the heart of the Arbori village where Guests like you are invited to a welcome feast—with entrees from our wok and roasting stations. Join us in celebrating the bounty and balance of nature! "

More Infos About Shanghaî Disneyland Adventure Isle by SDL Imagineers

More infos about Shanghaî Disneyland Adventure Isle thanks to a new article from Shanghaî Daily:

Adventure Isle ventures into undiscovered Disney territory:

Adventure Isle, a place found only at Shanghai Disneyland, will be filled with fresh stories, thrilling new rides and original characters when the theme park opens next year. Bringing this new land to life was also a journey of discovery for its creators.
“Our idea is to take our guests to someplace completely unknown and completely exotic, so we created this world that has never been discovered before,” said Stan Dodd - picture below - executive producer and creative director at Walt Disney Imagineering Shanghai, who has been with Disney for 28 years.

For visitors, the mysterious Adventure Isle turns back the clock to the early 1930s, when, as the storyline goes, a group of international explorers known as the League of Adventurers discovered the island and its nature-loving inhabitants, the Arbori people.
“For us, the challenge was really about how to be as innovative as possible with the Adventure Isle story and create something that is completely new,” explained Dodd, who worked with a team of talented Imagineers and local artisans to bring the story to life.

Roaring Rapids, a rafting ride, will take guests on a white-knuckle adventure through the heart of Adventure Isle. Along their journey, guests will learn the undiscovered secrets of an ancient tribal legend and encounter the giant reptile Q’aráq, the protector of the island.
“We get to come face-to-face with Q’aráq,” explains Dodd. “A living, breathing and spitting Q’aráq. Right on top of us!”
Meanwhile, Camp Discovery is a place where adventurers of all ages and abilities can explore waterfalls, ruins and dig sites in search of ancient relics. Visitors can delve into natural wonders and ancient legends, trek past waterfalls and discover tribal ruins in an elevated ropes course created specifically for this land. With its network of scenic paths and ropes courses leading to the same attractions, no one is excluded from the adventure or the area’s beauty.
“This is one of the coolest things we’ve done in a Disney park,” the creative director said.

Also among the highlights is “Tarzan: Call of the Jungle,” an original stage spectacle starring Tarzan and his friends. “Call of the Jungle” fuses theatrics, Chinese acrobatics and rock music into a show that will be performed daily at the Storyhouse Stage.
At Soaring Over the Horizon, guests can experience what it’s like to fly like a bird over spectacular scenic wonders, including The Great Wall of China. The ride is a re-imagining of a popular attraction at Disney California Adventure, tailored for the people of China, and makes an ideal attraction for the entire family.
After a long day of exploration, guests can relax at the Tribal Table, a festive art-filled restaurant serving up appetizing meals and a full-sensory dining experience. Conceptually, the thoughtfully-designed restaurant was conceived as a gathering place of the Arbori people and is meant to represent the heart and soul of Adventure Isle.
Dodd, who has worked on almost every Disney park around the world, has a special fondness for Adventure Isle at Shanghai Disneyland.
“It’s not that often we get to develop a completely new land,” he said.
To design and build this new land, Dodd works with a diverse team of creative and technical professionals from different fields. This crew includes members from China, North America, Asia and Europe.
“When we’re working on something like a piece of wood or rock, there will be three to five languages flying around. Just imagine how fun it is,” he said. “It’s amazing that people from all around the world, from different cultures, can come together on such details. It’s incredible fascinating and something only Disney can do.”

Shanghai Disneyland Update : A Look at Adventure Isle in Details

You've seen before this great rendering above showing Shanghaî Disneyland Adventure Isle. The file you've seen previously was a 2000px file, surely big enough to allow to zoom in it but not enough to see everything in clear details. I've succeeded to find a 8000px file and this one allows to zoom even more in the artwork without losing in quality. So, let's have a closer look at Adventure Isle, would we? Also, i strongly suggest you to click on each picture to see it in bigger size. You also have for each the official description from SDL.

We start by Roaring Rapids, the big E-Ticket ride of the land:

"Roaring Rapids will take guests on a white-knuckle adventure through the heart of Adventure Isle. Riding a raft propelled only by gravity and water, anything can happen as guests plunge down a mountain and into a dark cavern where the undiscovered secrets of an ancient tribal legend and the reptilian creature Q’aráq are revealed. Only those who venture into the mountain will encounter the massive, mysterious Q’aráq."

As you can see on the above artwork, the Roaring Rapids raft ride will not only have a drop but also will go inside the mountain - to meet the creature - and include too geyser and fire effects. The loading area is in the round building in the center with the queue going on first in the open air building below, on the bottom. Then the rafts will go down before turning left and go up to the mountain. When they'll come down before the arrival there will be some fire effect, then the drop, and a geyser sequence just before the unload.

On this next one we can see the rafts already up in the mountain before getting inside it. The mountain waterfalls should be impressive and highly enjoyable!

The scaffolding looking structure that you see near the mountain is the one for Camp Discovery:

"Shanghai Disneyland is the first Disney park to offer Camp Discovery, a place where adventurers of all ages and abilities will gather to explore waterfalls, ruins and dig sites in search of ancient tribal relics. They may explore natural wonders and ancient legends, trek past waterfalls and discover tribal ruins in an elevated ropes course created specifically for this land. Guests will be able to choose their own expeditions at Camp Discovery, with some opting for the thrilling natural wonders of Roaring Mountain and others choosing to see the views and become immersed in science, nature, and history."

SDL guests will not only climb up this structure but also explore caves located on the left side of the mountain. The building you can see on the left is probably the one for the Tarzan show, the show building for Soaring Over The Horizon being a bit further on the right behind the mountain.

There is more to see in Adventure Isle with the Tribal table restaurant and Explorers Canoes...

The Tribal Table restaurant located near the entrance to the Roaring Rapids ride will be "a festive, art-filled restaurant, inviting guests to come together for an appetizing meal in a sensory dining experience. Sights, sounds and smells will whet the appetite as guests enjoy the action of live cooking with fiery woks and rotisseries. This ancient gathering house in the Arbori village is the native heart and soul of the land, offering vivid flavors, a friendly atmosphere and beautiful artwork. The murals, artifacts and illustrations will dazzle visitors with scenes from a rich native culture".

Next door will be the departure point for the Explorer Canoes...

...which will go from Adventure Isle to Treasure Cove Lagoon...

...by moving around this little isle which separate the two lands.

And that's all for this closer look at Shanghaî Disneyland Adventure Isle, hope you'll enjoyed it and don't miss the Black Friday special offer on the Disneyland Paris book in the article below!

Only those who venture into the mountain will encounter the massive, mysterious Q’aráq.

The picture below was also released, though this one is obviously not from SDL but most probably from Animal Kingdom Asia Kali River Rapids.
