Second Pixar SparkShorts ‘Smash and Grab’ Will Remind You Good Ol' Wall-E

The second Pixar SparkShorts in already on line! Titled "Smash and Grab", directed by Brian Larsen and produced by David Lally, the story is about two antiquated robots who risk everything for freedom and for each other after years of toiling away inside the engine room of a towering locomotive.

It's a wonderful short which will rmeind you the great Pixar animated movie Wall-E. Boy, do i miss a new Wall-E, instead to do all these Toy Story sequels why the Pixar folks don't do a Wall-E sequel, or if not possible a new Sci-Fi animated film?

And now go behind the scenes of Smash and Grab with director Brian Larsen and producer David Lally.

If you missed it, last week was released the first Pixar SparkShort, "Purl", directed by Kristen Lester and produced by Gillian Libbert-Duncan. Itfeatures an earnest ball of yarn named Purl who gets a job in a fast-paced, high energy, bro-tastic start-up. Yarny hijinks ensue as she tries to fit in, but how far is she willing to go to get the acceptance she yearns for, and in the end, is it worth it?

And here is a behind the scenes of Purl.

Wall-E , The Extraordinar-e Adventure Ride Concept

No, "Imagineer John" is not a WDI Imagineer ( as far as i know ) but there is no doubt that he would love to be one. Most of all, Imagineer John is a talented ride designer creating ride concepts in RCT3. This "Wall-e The Extraordinar-e Adventure" ride concept is the latest installment from Imagineer John, Wall-e being one of his favorite characters. This attraction concept pays tribute to the Pixar movie and riders "would be immersed into an all new epic experience".

Something important to know to understand the "camera" moves in the video below: the attraction, as Imagineer John envisioned it will use a robotic controlled arm vehicle called "Carr-e", probably more or less similar to the Kuka robot arm used in the Harry Potter ride at Universal Orlando. Imagineer John would like the ride to be located at WDW Epcot center, which indeed might fit well for a Wall-E ride.

That said, this is just a brilliant ride concept done by a talented fan and not a WDI concept. But who knows, if WDI Imagineers don't have their own Wall-E ride concept - which remains to be prove - they might like the one of Imagineer John! Have a look at this "extraodinar-e adventure" and watch it full screen! By the way, open also your ears as he did also a very nice job on the sound!

A quite Icy Wall-E

WALL-E did pretty well in Japan - currently the box office is $44 M - and they love so much Pixar's robot that they even did a ice sculpture of it, as you will see on these pictures shot by Rika Toriumi near a hotel swimming pool at Okinawa.

And, talking about robot, the japanese - as usual - have released what is probablly the smaller remote-controlled robot in the world, as you will see on the video below!

WALL-E won Best Animated Film Academy Award !

Yes! WALL-E won tonight the Best Animated Film of the Year Academy Award and the Oscar goes to Andrew Stanton and all Pixar animators, and, of course, WALL-E!

Disney and more send its best congratulations to Andrew Stanton and all Pixar animators who worked on this gorgeous animated movie. I personally loved it, so of course i am very happy that WALL-E won the academy-award!

Mmmmh, i think WALL-E is a little bit surprised by his new friend...

Here is Andrew Stanton receiving the Award last night.

Here is a video of Andrew Stanton backstage sending his best thanks.

And here is another video of Andrew Stanton backstage - as well as the winner of the short animated academy award - with Jack Black and Jennifer Aniston after he received the Oscar.

To celebrate this Award you can open a bottle of champagne or stay with WALL-E and have some fun with the WALL-E Pinball on the official website. Just like a real Pinball, with animated effects when the ball hit Eve or the Rocket !

AND for those of you who didn't succeed to watch the Oscar last night and Hugh Jackman fantastic ceremony opening, here is the video!

" The World of WALL-E " Tokyo Exhibit Exclusive Report

Wall-e was released last month in Japan - six months after it was released in the U.S and Europe - and the movie is doing very well. In one month, Wall-E box office is $ 42 Millions, more than it did in the United Kingdom in 6 months! At the same time an exhibit called "The World of Wal-E" open at Sunshine City. The exhibit closed January 12, but Randie Soul, Disney and more contributor was there and did a great photographic report. There we go for the visit.

The exhibit was located at the 60th floor of the Sunshine Building - almost in space! - , called Sunshine 60 Observatory. Why "Observatory"? Because you have great view on all Tokyo up there!

Wow, 60 floors, that's really high...

A real size Wall-E is welcoming you...

...Before you enter the exhibit itself with artwork from the animated movie.

Let's have a closer look to some of the artwork...

The models of Wall-E and Eve used by Pixar animators were also displayed.

In another part of the exhibit guests could learn everything about Buy'N Large including the Buy'N Large costumes and the great ads and logos.

Guests could also learn more about Andrew Stanton and Ben Burtt...

And children can get familiar with some Buy'N Large robots.

Talking about children, Japanese young children were asked to create by themselves some Wall-E figures using cans, and they were on display in the children's area at the end of the exhibit!

In this area childrens could play to a giant Wall-E game all above the floor...

...Or another interactive game where this litlle girl has to push with her feet some projected elements to be able to see Wall-E hidden behind them...

...Or also play with remote-controlled Wall-E.

A photo location with Wall-E and Eve was also available.

But we're in Japan, and we all know that Japanese love robot merchandise, so, yes, there was a Wall-E merchandise shop at the end of the exhibit!

In the movie Buy'N Large is supposed to create all kind of robots, including a vacuum cleaner robot. The Japanese created a real one that was on display! Actually, it's one of these great vacuum cleaner robot, just re-titled "Wall-E".

Let's end with the japanese movie poster!

O-Kay, hope you all enjoyed this "World of Wall-E" exhibit report, let's all thanks Randie Soul for his contribution!
