Disneyland Paris Update! Part One: Disneyland Park

I'll have three Disneyland Paris pictorial updates for you this week! DLP fans for sure will be happy to hear this and discover new shots from their favorite Magic Kingdom! As always the pictures are thanks to Max Fan, D&M contributor and DLPWelcome webmaster.

With this first update we'll go around the Disneyland Paris park and as you will see the weather in the last days of August was rainy and cloudy. Good news as it seems it will be better soon and, as it happen now almost every year, DLP might have a nice "Indian summer". Generally when the weather in July and August is not nice September and October are better and sometime even warmer, so keep this in mind if you're planning to visit DLP anytime soon.

Let's move along Main Street towards Sleeping Beauty Castle.

Good news, the double decker vintage car is back!

In Frontierland,  the works are still going on on the Silver Spur Steakhouse facade, even if the restaurant is always open for guests.

Same bad weather that day in Adventureland...

...and to ride Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril...

...but good news, the Jungle telephone with which guests can learn how to survive in the jungle is back, and his loudspeaker works well ( so far ).

A cool night shot of Adventureland entrance to end this part one!

A look at the hours wait on Central Plaza and at the one of the Walt Disney studios indicates something amazing, although not surprising. As you can see the wait times are now longer at the WDS than at DLP. For sure, the opening of the new Ratatouille ride that no guest want to miss is partly responsible of that...

...but the good news is that a 15 min wait at Space Mountain or 20 min at Peter Pan's Flight and even 50 min at Big Thunder is pretty unusual for an August day. No one will complain, though.

Not the same at the WDS with 80 min wait at Crush's Coaster, 60 min at TSL Parachute Drop and, no surprise, 130 min at Ratatouille.

On Remy Plaza a small food cart is used to sell some Ratatouille merchandise until the opening of the "Chez Marianne Souvenirs de Paris" shop.

The new  Crush's Coaster entrance is now finished, and in September WDS guests waiting in line will be able to play on their mobile phone to the Crush Coaster mobile game, a game where you have to get as many as sea star as possible while you avoid being hit by underwater mines.

At the entrance of the WDS the "earfell tower" is still in renovation with new logos supposed to be painted on the top.

I'll be back in Paris in a few days and in France almost all September, and of course will go at the parks and discover by myself the new Ratatouille ride. Not only you can expect plenty of cool pics when i'll be back ( as well as my opinion on the Ratatouille ride ) but i have also a good news for all of you who want to order my Disneyland Paris "From Sketch to Reality" and would like to have it signed specially for them. Normally i can't do it as i'm too far from Paris but all this September i will be able to sign personally each copy that will be ordered, whether it will be a french or english edition!

And to make things even better anyone who will order the book during september will have a signed copy at the price of a non-signed copy, i.e 75€ instead of 100€ ( and additional worldwide shipping remain the same at 15€  ). Only a very few copies have been signed since this book was published 12 years ago, so for sure it'll make the copy even more "collector's".

Paypal and credit card payments are accepted, so make sure to place your order now!
You can use the Paypal buttons below for the english edition, or for the french edition. If you don't have a Paypal account you can also pay directly with your credit card with these buttons without opening a Paypal account. If it don't works please send me an email at: neverlandeditions@gmail.com

WDS Ratatouille Press Event Full Pictorial Report - Part One

Hello everyone. Here is a full pictorial report on the Ratatouille press event which happened that week-end, thanks to Max, D&M contributor and DLPWelcome webmaster.

We're starting by Remy Plaza and here is what Max has to say about it:
Remy Plaza is simply a triumph, the level and quality of theming is stunning and it's Walt Disney Imagineering at its best. It's even a shock compared to the rest of the park. The choice to have create a Paris between the reality and a dream vision of it "works" perfectly and it's a space where you're happy to walk in.
But in this gorgeous decor remain some issues, things that cannot be changed and Toy Story Playland nearby is the one i'm talking about. Sounds from guests riding TSP RC Racer and Parachute Drop can be heard and "broke" the romantic atmosphere of Remy Plaza. That said, the plaza is so charming that it will make you forget the sound intrusion from TSP, as you will be stunned by the theming of this Ratatouille land.
Special mention to the fountain at the center of the plaza which is simply perfect. If it happen that you don't see it working it'll be probably because of a too strong wind.

The theming also include motorbikes of Colette and Chief Skinner as they are in the movie ( and also Linguini's bicycle ).

This is where you'll ask for your Fast Pass.

Above, the ride entrance and below scenes of the queue decor where an animated Gusteau greets the guests from his sign on the top of Paris rooftops.

Time to pick up the 3D glasses that you'll need to enjoy the ride 3D projections!

All aboard the ratmobiles!

Max didn't had good pictures shot during the ride itself but he did what is so far the best on-ride video and you can watch it below. Many disappointed comments have been posted here and there but what i can tell you is that everyone who did the ride in person loved it. It's a family ride extremely well done and themed, and which is not supposed to be as "hard" as the Spiderman or Transformers rides at Universal. So, stop comparing it to these as even if the technology involved looks the same the ride "target" is not the same. It's in a way a highly sophisticated Fantasyland ride. Also, a video of a ride using so many projections is always disappointing as you can't experience the on-ride special effects, moving and spinning vehicle, etc... So, just wait to ride Ratatouille in person, "physically", and i'm sure you will be pleasantly surprised how good it is.

See you tomorrow for the part two with dozens of pictures of the new highly themed restaurant "Bistrot Chez Remy" which is now the biggest restaurant at Disneyland Paris!
