Disneyland Paris WDS Ratatouille Ride Update !

Max Fan, D&M contributor and DLPWelcome webmaster is back with the latest pictures of the WDS Ratatouille ride construction site! good news as they started to put in place on the ground the awaited "parisians" cobblestones, and works on the facades are almost finished. I'm curious to see if the cobblestones will be slippy when it will rain - they are, usually...

DLP Imagineers didn't forget to insert in the decor amazing details, like these sculpted Gruyere cheese slices near the ride entrance.

Always about the ride we learned recently that the ride music is composed by Michael Giacchino, who did the original score for the animated film.

Also, stockholders who were at the 2014 stockholders meeting last wednesday got a special gift that you can see below. I remind you that the Ratatouille ride will be titled in french "L'Aventure Totalement Toquée de Rémi" and is rumoured to have soft openings in the last ten days of June and a grand opening on July 14, France national day.

See you soon for a new DLP update and if you missed the great "Making of Ratatouille ride" article you'll find it HERE!

For your info, i remind you that the great Valentine's day special offer on the Disneyland Paris book at 60€ ( + 15€ for shipping worldwide ) allows you to order the DLP book at the best price ever. Walt Disney Studios Ratatouille Ride Update !

Here is the promised WDS Ratatouille ride update. Now that spring arrived at last at DLP and WDS workers on site are rushing to put in place the metallic structures of the rooftops to complete the theming of the show building and restaurant facades. In six months from now, if not before, the exterior theming should be finished and we will have a pretty good idea of how this new mini land will look. First ,let's have a look at the latest pictures of the construction site, thanks to Max Fan D&M contributor and DLRP Welcome webmaster.

The "black hole" on the picture below will be the attraction entrance.

On the right side of the land they also transform the left side of the previous costuming building which will also be themed like parisians facades, and inside which will take place part of the outside queue line for the ride.

Talking about the ride itself, here are some news about it. First, i remind you that, according to the french law, anyone can ask to have a look at Chessy's city hall at the ride construction permit which include the ride blueprints, the list of the scenes, and more. It was of course extremely interesting to have a look, but don't count on me to reveal the whole ride storyline scene by scene. That said, i can confirm what is true and what is not among all the rumors posted since the last two years on many forums, as i think it's better for you to know what you must not expect to avoid being disappointed when the ride will open. What is not true is that some scenes of the ride will take the guests down in the sewers and that we will then go out in the countryside, to find after our way back to Gusteau's kitchen. May be it was in WDI preliminary storyline three years ago, but not anymore. Instead all the scenes of the ride will take place inside or around the kitchen with some inside Gusteau's restaurant ( i'm not talking here about the "real" restaurant which will be built near the ride show building ). The element which is rumored since a long time and which is still right is that the queue decor - at least for the part inside the show building will look like Paris rooftops, as well, by the way, as the one of the loading room and the first scene of the ride.

Above, a picture of a preliminary concept for the ride vehicle,  here for disabled guests.

As expected the ride will use a trackless vehicle system like in HKDL Mystic Manor - see WDI preliminary concept above  - and 3D projections on giant screens. And just like at Mystic Manor more than one vehicle will share the same scene. There will be ten different scenes in the ride, using for most of them giant hemispherical screens and sometime three vehicles will face together the same big screen, sometime each of the three vehicles will be placed individually in front of smaller screens before moving to the next scene. Expect, too, "heat or cold" temperature effects in some of the scenes, effects which will be of course justified by what will happen in the scenes ( don't ask me what ). And the whole ride will take place on one floor only, which might look strange when you look at the height of the show building but the reason why the show building is so high is because - in addition to the giant screens - the ride will include huge decors which will be necessary to achieve the illusion that guests are reduced at the size of a rat! I don't have any info about the length of the ride but considering the number of scenes i think the ride should last between 4 and 5 minutes. The english title of the attraction is still supposed to be "Ratatouille Kitchen Calamity" but a french title approved recently and to be revealed later this year also exist. I can't reveal it but it includes a funny play-on-words on the word "toque" which in french means a "cook hat" but also "crazy" or "nutty"!

That's all for today about the Ratatouille ride. The attraction surely looks great but unfortunately you'll still have to wait 15 more months before enjoying it as the ride will probably not open before summer 2014!

DLP Update! DLP Annual Stockholder Meeting, Disney Light Ears Preview Video, Ratatouille Ride, and more...

Let's end the week with a great DLP Update! Two days ago was the day of Disneyland Paris annual stockholder meeting and if you've never seen how it looks i have the pictures for you, thanks to Max Fan from Dlrp Welcome.

The meeting happened at the Newport Bay Hotel, and yes, it's always the winter in Paris so the skies are still grey and temperatures reaaaly cold - it was snowing again this week!

Direction: the convention hall ballroom which is huge and really nice.

But before entering the convention room everyone had to present his I.D.

Everyone received an electronic device to vote,  a gift coupon, a stockholder badge, and the annual report brochure.

Max was one of the first to enter the room!

Then the meeting began with giant projections behind the stage.

DLP CEO Philippe Gas answered to stockholder questions after presenting the report, talking about the future of the resort, and most of all as i told you in my previous post HERE he announced officially the Ratatouille attraction, opening in 2014 at the WDS.

But the real moment of the meeting which impressed the stockholders was the special preview of the Disney Light Ears that DLP will introduce with the Disney Dreams show.

And, guess what, thanks to Max, i have the video for you of that special moment!

Let's move to the Walt Disney Studios for the second part of this update to have a look at the Ratatouille ride works. As it is the winter you won't see on these pictures a lot of workers on the site but obviously the show building which is really huge is now ready for its theming and to install the ride inside.

A close-up to the building and what will be the ride entrance...

But since the last time that Max shot pictures some few things have changed, specially all around the top of the building.

As i've said previously don't expect the real theming of the building before spring but this will come quickly!

And now i have a surprise for you! This week the D&M Facebook page reached the 1000 "likes" - in two months and a half only, AND also Disney and more reached the milestone of Five Millions visitors since i started the site in 2007! Thanks to all of you, of course, to be faithful D&M readers!
And to celebrate this, the DLP Book "From Sketch to Reality" will be at 75€ only - instead of 120€ during all next week, its lowest price ever!. Shipping wherever you live is 15€ only.
I also remind you that we're really running low of english edition copies so, with this very good price, it's the right time to place your order of a collector copy while they are still available! You can use the one-click Paypal button below.

Ratatouille Dark Ride Announced Officially By Disneyland Paris !

Wow, what a news! Although each Disney Parks fan knew since at least a year and a half that a Ratatouille dark ride is coming at DLP Walt Disney Studios in 2014, DLP never announced it officially... until today! So, now it's 100% not anymore a rumor and here is the official press release! You can also download DLP 2012 annual report which is now available HERE.

New Ratatouille-themed attraction announced for Disneyland Paris in 2014

Marne-la-Vallée, 28 February 2013. During the group’s annual shareholder meeting on 28 February, Euro Disney Chairman Philippe Gas announced plans for the continued development of Disneyland Paris, with the addition of a new attraction based on the hit Disney/Pixar movie Ratatouille.

‘Our new family-focused Ratatouille attraction, which is scheduled to open in 2014, symbolises all of the creativity, innovation and emotion that guests associate with a Disneyland Paris experience,’ Gas said.

Set to open in Walt Disney Studios Park, the attraction is part of the group’s long-term commitment to investing in high-qua lity guest experiences. That strategy has been funda mental to strengthening the appeal of the multi-day destination, which achieved record-breaking attendance of 16 million visits in 2012.

This unique attraction will take guests into the world of the Oscar-winning Disney/Pixar movie Ratatouille which tells the tale of Remy – a talented young rat who dreams of becoming a renowned French chef. Disney storytelling and state-of-the-art technology will come together in this romantic, larger-than-life, Parisian experience.

‘By developing this new Ratatouille attraction, we continue to ensure our guests can experience their favourite Disney stories in memorable ways that only Disney can provide,’ Gas said. ‘The theme, which is very français, is a tribute to our capital and the unforgettable characters that make Ratatouille the ideal choice for an attraction that fits perfectly at Disneyland Paris.’

The group also announced the extension of its 20th Anniversary celebrations until 30 September 2013. Guests now have a second chance to enjoy the festivities that include a new twist on the award-winning ‘Disney Dreams!’ spectacular. The unforgettable show will now be enriched with scenes from two much-loved Disney animated classics, The Lion King and Brave. In addition, each performance will become an interactive experience when guests wear Disney Light’Ears1. These magical Mickey ears will change colour in time with the show, making ‘Disney Dreams!’ an even more spectacular experience for the whole family.

1 Disney Light’Ears will be sold from summer 2013 at selected locations throughout Disneyland Paris and online.

Walt Disney Studios and Ratatouille Ride Update !

There we go for another long pictorial update, this time about the Walt Disney Studios. We'll also have a look at the latest pictures from the Ratatouille ride construction site, always thanks to the great pictures of Max Fan, D&M contributor and Dlrp Welcome webmaster. If you've missed the part one of this update showing DLP Magic Kingdom covered by snow, don't miss it, you'll find it HERE.

Let's start by having a look at the snow at the WDS - because you didn't thought that DLP second gate succeeded to avoid last week blizzard, did you?

Believe it or not but the harsh weather didn't stopped some of the characters to be there, from Mary Poppins to Cruella or Gaston.

While we are at the Rock and Roller Coaster, two pictures of the pre-show and launching rooms.

Let's move to Toon Studios and Toy Story Playland!

It's time to have a look at the Ratatouille site and because it was really too cold that day Max didn't shoot the pictures from the top of the Parachute Drop ride as he does usually but from the "ground", which also gives a look at the construction site from another angle.

The light yellow building on the right is the previous costuming building, which will be transformed and themed.

Some close shots on the show building. As you can see the big work on the facades is done and DLP Imagineers will be able to start the theming but we may have to wait for days with a better weather, i.e not before spring as it wouldn't be a good idea to begin painting with the harsh winter weather...

One last pic for the road and as you see there was not a lot of workers on the site, which is no big surprise considering the snow and cold temperatures.

I remind you that between now and February 14 i'm doing a great Winter sale / Valentine's day special offer on the Disneyland Paris book collector's edition that you can order at its lowest price ever, i.e 75€ / $100 (instead of 120€ / $160) plus 15€ shipping wherever you live on the planet!
