PHOTOS: Bob Iger Star Wars Galaxy's Edge Private Tour With Steven Spielberg, Kathleen Kennedy and JJ Abrams !

Bob Iger posted on his Twitter page three great pictures from Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland where Iger hosted a private tour of the new land for Steven Spielberg, Kathleen Kennedy and JJ Abrams joined by WDI show producer Scott Trowbridge.

In his tweet Iger says, “Best way to impress your friends…give them a personal tour of @starwars Galaxy's Edge!”

Also, we just learn that Stormtroopers will enforce the four-hour time limit at Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge! Galaxy’s Edge guests will get just a four-hour window to visit the land and they’ll face veritable stormtroopers enforcing the rules. Once that four hours expires, the Galactic Empire forces will escort visitors out in a way likely more polite than normal Stormtrooper protocol. Disneyland representatives declined to say what will happen if guests resist the Stormtroopers!

D23 also released a photo gallery showing theming details of the land attractions and shops.

The last ones released shows that a LOT of pop culture characters - from the Iron Giant to Batman, from Superman to Jurassic Park T-Rex and hundred more ( literally ) will appear in Ready Player One as in virtual reality any player can choose the character he wants to be in this virtual world named "the Oasis".

Final Trailer For Steven Spielberg Awaited "Ready Player One" Movie to be Released March 29 !

If there is a film that i'm really awaiting it's Steven Spielberg’s latest film “Ready Player One”. The final trailer has been released and will bring back to life some beloved characters from our favorite movies, like the Iron Giant and many others:

"The film is set in 2045, with the world on the brink of chaos and collapse. But the people have found salvation in the OASIS, an expansive virtual reality universe created by the brilliant and eccentric James Halliday (Mark Rylance). When Halliday dies, he leaves his immense fortune to the first person to find a digital Easter egg he has hidden somewhere in the OASIS, sparking a contest that grips the entire world. When an unlikely young hero named Wade Watts (Tye Sheridan) decides to join the contest, he is hurled into a breakneck, reality-bending treasure hunt through a fantastical universe of mystery, discovery and danger."

Sci-Fi films by Spielberg are always interesting - think about Minority Report, for instance- so i can't wait to see Ready Player One which will be released on March 29 by Warner Bros.

Awesome Trailer for Steven Spielberg Ready Player One, in Theaters Next March !

READY PLAYER ONE is Steven Spielberg new film and it will be released March 2018. The first trailer has been released two days ago and, boy, visually does it look great! I have the feeling that READY PLAYER ONE could be the best futuristic film of Spielberg since ...Minority Report?

Here is the synopsis released: "When the creator of a virtual reality world called the OASIS dies, he releases a video in which he challenges all OASIS users to find his Easter Egg, which will give the finder his fortune. Wade Watts finds the first clue and starts a race for the Egg."

After seeing the trailer you'll guess that the movie is talking about a world where people are living in an alternate "virtual reality" and Spielberg already revealed that the movie will include plenty of pop culture figures, including the great Iron Giant who plays a huge role in the movie" according to Steven. You'll see him just a second at the end of the trailer.

Steven Spielberg Warning of a Hollywood Implosion

At last someone who see things clearly. And it's not coming from anyone as it is Steven Spielberg himself who said this week what you will read below, speaking at the University of Southern California Film School.

So, what did Steven said? Well, first he revealed that his latest film - Lincoln - barely made it into distribution. Seriously? Seriously. But it's the great Steven Spielberg, you say, how is it possible that he can't find a distributor for any of his movies? well, that's all the point, even is you are Steven Spielberg - or Martin Scorcese or many others great directors - it's no longer enough to be sure that your movie will be distributed. Even Georges Lucas said recently that his World War II blockbuster Red Tails had an hard time getting into theatres and wasn’t able to get a international release: “The pathway to get into theaters is really getting smaller and smaller” Lucas explained. That's how bad the situation is now, folks. The problem, Spielberg added, is that studios aren’t taking any chances on ‘fringe’ subjects and scripts, preferring established franchises and superhero schlock directed by wannabes.

Is this the end of intelligent mainstream cinema?
"I really think so. The future for any talented filmmaker is the internet and television. That’s where the creativity is going to be, where new talent breaks first. You’re not going to see a debut feature however Oscar worthy at the cinema until it is a proven mega hit franchise with millions of YouTube views"

Spielberg added: “That’s the big danger, and there’s eventually going to be an implosion — or a big meltdown. There’s going to be an implosion where three or four or maybe even a half-dozen mega-budget movies are going to go crashing into the ground, and that’s going to change the paradigm”

Where is the problem and why Studios are not interested by mainstream movies, i.e real good movies as it was still existing not too long ago. Simply because Studios
( and not only Disney ) are not really interested by movies, they're interested by the money they will make with them, and of course the power it will bring. That's a major difference with what Hollywood studios were at the Golden Era when people at Metro Goldwyn mayer or Warner really loved movies, and not only money. And i mean good movies. Do you think that someone could find now the money to do a Lawrence of Arabia? Or even Citizen Kane? No way, except, as Spielberg said in some TV channels like HBO.

And in the meantime we won't escape to several super-heroes sequels, etc... Don't get me wrong, i have nothing against franchise movies. The last Star Trek for instance was excellent thanks to a good script, a brilliant filming and excellent actors well directed, but Iron Man 3 although it was entertaining won't last long in your memory, simply because it was not a great movie, not a piece of art. Unfortunately Iron Man 3 box office has reached now 1.2 Billion which is great for Disney as they might use some of the money for more interesting things, i.e for instance in theme parks. But it also mean that they probably think they've found the recipe to make gold and will use it again and again in the same kind of movies. This would not be a problem if they were using the money also to produce movies which will be food for your mind but i doubt that it will be the case... and that's where the problem lies.

The irony in all that is that people like Spielberg and Lucas are also the ones who introduced 30 years ago the notion of blockbuster movies at Hollywood. So, i suppose that what is happening now is what is called the karma boomerang... Anyway, will the money-men finally kill mainstream movies, the great cinema? Possible, but not sure. Although i don't really trust the executives to be more intelligent than greedy,
i have more confidence in the audience and i wouldn't be surprised if some day people begin to be fed up of these deluxe B-movies - because that's what they are, after all - and start to ask for movies which will be also pure work of art. As they say in India, the wheel is always turning...

Steven Spielberg " Lincoln " Trailer !

Steven Spielberg's awaited "Lincoln" movie will be released next November, the movie trailer is now available, and it looks great! I have a very good feeling on this one, not only because Abraham Lincoln will be played by Daniel Day-Lewis who is a terrific actor - and not to mention others Academy Award winners Sally Field and Tommy Lee Jones - but also because i think it's going to be a great Spielberg movie. Lincoln is such an icon in America that Spielberg can't fail or disappoint with this movie, an adaptation of Doris Kearns Goodwin's book.

For Disneyland fans Abraham Lincoln is also the first "human" Audio-Animatronic ever created - and still playing each day at Disneyland and Walt Disney World! You can watch below the movie trailer and i also embedded right under it the "Lincoln Hangout" organized by Google + with a selection of Google + members who had the luck to ask their questions to Steven Spielberg himself! Steven answered live from a Dreamworks office in L.A with Joseph Gordon-Levitt who is playing Robert Todd Lincoln in the movie. It's interesting as Spielberg is personally telling you what you can expect of this great movie!

All about The Adventures of Tintin, released October 26

The hugely awaited "Adventures of Tintin" movie directed by Steven Spielberg will be released October 26 in Europe, November 10 in Asia and December 21 in the U.S. As i told you in my previous post it's an understatement to say that millions of Tintin fans - mostly in Europe as the stories are less known in the U.S - are extremely curious to see how this first movie will be faithful to the comic book stories and Hergé universe.

We already knew that the movie will be a mix of the Secret of the Unicorn and The Crab with the Golden Claws stories but it seems that Spielberg also did some changes. It might be minor changes which will not change the global spirit of each story and the first reviews of the movie are excellent but we'll have to check this when the movie will be released.

Anyway, in the meantime i have plenty of new clips of the Adventures of Tintin - including interviews and making-of - and let's begin by the third trailer.

But i have better for you as they released five different clips of the movie. Here they are!

The next video is not from the official movie but it's a great piece of animation created by James Curran. James is a brilliant animator and he did this short animation which is not the official credits from the movie. But it should have been as he wonderfully gives tribute to each album of the Tintin series in less than 1.12 minute! Don't miss it!

The Adventures of Tintin from James Curran on Vimeo.

Next, four videos showing the making-of of The Adventures of Tintin and the magic of Spielberg and Weta Studios wizards. Plenty of shots showing Spielberg!

Here are three other videos with, in the order, interviews of Spielberg, Peter Jackson and Jamie Bell and Andy Serkis - playing Tintin and Captain Haddock.

And last but not least, for iPhone, iPad and Android phones owners there is even a game inspired by the movie to be released anytime soon by Gameloft. Here is the trailer.

"The Adventures of Tintin" Trailer 2 !

A new trailer of "The Adventures of Tintin" was released, and this one shows more the different characters. To say that this adaptation, directed by Steven Spielberg, of Hergé's legendary Tintin comic book series is awaited - specially in Europe - is an understatement. The debate on how the animated characters are faithful or not to the one in the books is going to begin, and no doubt that this debate is going to be hot in the next months, particularly in France and Belgium where Tintin was hugely popular all along the last half of the 20th century.

In the meantime, have a look to this new trailer and let me know what you think of it, and read HERE my previous article for more details and pictures of the movie.

" Super 8 " Review

I saw today J.J Abrams' new movie "Super 8". The movie is produced by Steven Spielberg and as we will see there are good reasons for that. In the middle of the 1970's a group of young teenagers, movie fans, are filming a short horror movie - at a time of the now extinct Super 8 cameras. They will be the witness of a major train accident while they're filming a sequence, and apparently it was not an ordinary train. The train was one of the U.S Air Force and "something" was moved in the middle of the night from a top secret army facility to another one.

I won't tell you more to don't spoil the storyline but to like the movie - and i liked it a lot - you must know that the whole movie is a tribute to the 1970's Spielberg's movies. The story, the photography of the movie and even the theme are all very "Spielbergian" and we understand instantly why Spielberg agreed to be the producer of Super 8. In fact, the whole movie could have been filmed by Steven, and if you want to enjoy it you really must remember this "tribute to the 70's".

For people of my generation it's very enjoyable as it is a kind of teleportation back in time but for young people who are born in early 1990's and who don't have necessarily the 1970's movie culture i'm curious to see if they will be sensitive to the stylization of "Super 8". You'll let me know if you liked it or not in the comments. And one last thing: all the effects are of course perfect, with a special mention to the train accident which is incredible!

Edited: Did you know that Leonard Nimoy appears in the movie? How about that another one of J.J Abrams’s Star Trek stars plays “the monster”? Did you spot the references in Super 8 to Lost, Alias and The Twilight Zone? Slash Film compiled 16 hidden easter eggs which can be found in the movie and you can read this HERE.

Below, the final trailer and a short video interview of Steven Spielberg.

Universal Studios Singapore Special Effects Show " Lights, Camera, Action "

Among the new shows unique to Universal Studios Singapore is a brand new special effects show called "Lights, Camera, Action" hosted by Steven Spielberg himself. After the Spielberg pre-show guests enter what seems to be a boat shed and all the SFX show will take place during a major hurricane in New York bay.

As you will see on this video from the Sentosa theme park blog water, fire and destructions effects are part of the show, and much more until the final surprise - don't miss the end! According to a report by the Theme Park Guy web site "the effects appear a bit orchestrated and slow-motion, but (he) was told that the ride is still getting tweaked". It's usual for this kind of show to improve the effects after the opening, and probably it will be the case here.

And after you've watched the video jump to the Sentosa theme park blog where you can see many others good videos of Universal Studios Singapore. As here on Disney and more we will probably not talk a lot more about USS until the opening of the Transformers ride in 2011 the Sentosa theme park blog will be for you a good site to have fresh news from the park. Make sure to bookmark it! The Theme Park Guy web site also have a nice pictorial report on Universal Singapore.

Return of the Man with the Hat ?

Hey, what about getting some news of an Indiana Jones 5? I know, i know, the number 4 was disappointing but who knows, may be they will have a great idea - and a better script - for the no 5?

And that's precisely what Georges Lucas is supposed to have. According to Harrison Ford in his latest interview on MTV last week, "Georges have a crazy idea for the Indy 5". Ooops, a "crazy" idea fom Georges Lucas is not necessarily a good news!

Anyway, have a look at this short interview in which the man with the hat tells more about his wishes for the next Indy.

Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings

There is no new Indiana Jones movie this year, and considering the mediocre quality of the Crystal Skull it's almost a good news! However, on June 9, Lucas Arts released a brand new Indiana Jones video game called "Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings". The game is released for Nintendo Ds and Play station 2 of course, but - and that's where it becomes interesting - also for the now famous Nintendo Wii. Thanks to the Wii technology, the gamer will be able to act like Indiana Jones, and, as one of the game designer said "It's as close as you can get to be a real Indiana Jones".

The 3D animation looks fine, and especially the decors and background as you will see on the videos below. Lot of reminiscences from the Indy movies in the Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings adventure, but that's okay, it should be fun.

As i know you like concept-arts, here are some of them in wallpaper size. More concept-arts available on the game web site HERE

This first video below is the official game trailer.

In this next video you'll see game designers explaining how it works with the Wii.

And this last one shows the first Ten Minutes of "Indiana Jones And The Staff Of Kings" in the Wii version.

And what about a new Indy movie, you ask? Well, if we consider what Shia LaBeouf recently said in an interview - later confirmed by Producer Frank Marshall - they're currently working on a script. Mmmmh...the last time i heard this from a Indy producer was 15 years ago and we had to wait almost as long to see the movie - and not a real good one. So, i'll believe it when i'll see it!

Hat Tip to Blue Sky Disney for the news!

Transformers " E-Ticket " ride will open at Universal Studios in 2011

Universal Studios confirmed that a Transformers attraction will open in 2011, and i think we can expect a big "E" Ticket ride...The attraction is schedule to open first at Universal Studios Sentosa in Singapore which open in 2010. Universal released two renderings of this awaited ride and more details in the official press release that you will find below.

'Transformers' to be Developed as Theme Park Mega-Attraction at Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Studios Singapore

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif., Oct. 20 -- "Transformers," the electrifying blockbuster celebrated for its multi-generational appeal, inventive storyline, spectacular action sequences and special effects, will now be developed as a new theme park mega-attraction in a partnership between Universal Parks & Resorts, Hasbro, Inc. and DreamWorks Pictures.

The attraction will fuse 3D-HD media, mega special effects and stunning robotics with a ride system that will transform perceptions of theme park experiences. The rides are scheduled to make their debuts in early 2011, first at Universal Studios Singapore and then at Universal Studios Hollywood. In "Transformers," Earth's humans are caught in the middle of an intergalactic war between the friendly Autobots and the evil Decepticons, which are able to change into a variety of objects, including cars, trucks, planes and other technological creations.

Tom Williams, Chairman and CEO, Universal Parks & Resorts, said: "'Transformers' will be a jewel in our collection of world-class rides based on great movies. We're thrilled to be collaborating with Hasbro, DreamWorks, director Michael Bay and the film's executive producer, Steven Spielberg, who has been responsible for so many of our signature rides and attractions." Steven Spielberg serves as creative consultant to Universal Parks & Resorts and has worked closely with the company in the creation of some of the world's most innovative theme park attractions. Those attractions include Jurassic Park-the Ride, a featured attraction at UP&R parks in Orlando, Hollywood and Japan, the E.T. Adventure at Universal Orlando and Universal Studios Japan, and the "War of the Worlds" sets at Universal Studios Hollywood.

Larry Kurzweil, President and Chief Operating Officer, Universal Studios Hollywood, said "'Transformers' represents a perfect match for our theme park: an exhilarating blockbuster with a great story, clever humor, non-stop action and flawless special effects. It has all the elements necessary to become one of the world's most exciting theme park rides and a centerpiece attraction at Universal Studios Hollywood, The Entertainment Capital of L.A."

"We are thrilled to be working with Universal Parks & Resorts and DreamWorks to create this 'Transformers' attraction because we believe it will deliver an ultimate one of a kind immersive 'Transformers' experience for our fans around the world!" said Brian Goldner, President and CEO of Hasbro, Inc.

Tan Hee Teck, Chief Executive Officer of Resorts World at Sentosa, the mega resort that is home to Universal Studios Singapore, said: "It is great that Asia will be the launch pad for the first Transformers attraction. Transformers was introduced in the United States in 1983 but traces its roots to Asia. Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and Megatron are familiar names to Asian audiences, who grew up with the robot toys and love the movie. When Transformers opens in Universal Studios Singapore in 2010, it will be the first of its kind in the world. We may see a surge of Transformers mania.

Director Michael Bay and Executive Producer Steve Spielberg presented "Transformers" in 2007. "Transformers" broke box office records on its way to gathering worldwide gross revenues of over $706 million -- the highest non-sequel gross of any movie in 2007 -- and three Academy Award nominations. The sequel, "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen," is scheduled to be released by Paramount Pictures in the U.S. on June 26, 2009.
